Distributive Networks Powers Mobile Sweepstakes at the 4th Annual Congressional Blues Festival
May 30, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - Distributive Networks LLC, a leading mobile content and technology company, recently provided mobile text messaging services at the 4th Annual Congressional Blues Festival, an event to benefit the Music Maker Relief Foundation. The central mobile event was a text-to-win sweepstakes for win tickets to the festival’s VIP After Party sponsored by Gibson Guitar, the world’s premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology.
Two large video displays located on either side of the stage, along with audio announcements by the emcee, invited festival attendees to use their cell phones to text the word GIBSON to 96943. Twenty-five text lucky entrants were notified by text message that they had won, and each then received a pair of Gibson guitar picks that served as passes to enter the VIP After Party, which included the featured musicians in an exclusive venue.
Kevin Bertram, CEO of Distributive Networks, said, “We are excited to have the chance to partner with The Congressional Blues Festival and to help support fans’ excitement about the featured musicians and Gibson Guitar. It is a pleasure to help the audience participate even more directly in the festival, through our interactive mobile services, and we look forward to supporting the Festival in years to come.”
Ryan Costello, founder of the Congressional Blues Festival, said, “The Congressional Blues Festival is proud to feature such an incredible lineup of musicians for music lovers, and to fund such a worthy cause in the process. The mobile sweepstakes that Distributive Networks enabled was an innovative new part of this great new Washington tradition, providing our audience with a user-friendly way to participate even more directly in the event, and providing us with a unique promotional opportunity for Gibson Guitar, one of the festival’s key sponsors. The mobile sweepstakes was absolutely a success, and we give our sincere thanks to Distributive Networks.”

About the Congressional Blues Festival
The 2007 Congressional Blues Festival was the 4th annual edition of this cherished event, a five-hour blues marathon that rallied nearly 3,000 fans and over 35 members of Congress and the Senate to raise money and awareness for the Music Maker Relief Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that strives to help the true pioneers and forgotten heroes of Southern musical traditions gain recognition and meet their day to day needs. This headliner of this year’s event was Derek Trucks, who is an advisory board member of the Music Maker Relief Foundation, is also a member of the Allman Brothers Band and was recently featured on the cover of the Rolling Stone Magazine as one of today’s “guitar gods”. Sharing the stage that night were also Music Maker, blues sensations: Mudcat (Atlanta, GA), Sweet Betty (Atlanta, GA) and Adolphus Bell (Birmingham, AL).
