March 24, 2008
WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown University has selected Distributive Networks to launch a mobile marketing campaign to promote Wednesday’s Open Practice session in Washington, D.C. for the 2008 Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball Championship.
Fans can simply text the word NCAA to 37686 to receive information, updates and reminders via text message about the Open Practice session that the NCAA is conducting and Georgetown is hosting at the Verizon Center on Wednesday, March 19 from 11:00am to 7:30pm. Admission to the Open Practice is free and advance tickets are not required.
The Open Practice showcases the eight teams that will compete in the first and second rounds of the 2008 Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball Championship, which will be hosted by Georgetown at the Verizon Center on Thursday, March 20 and Saturday, March 22.
Washington D.C.-based Distributive Networks is providing the platform that enables Georgetown University to communicate with tournament fans via text message, providing them with timely updates—wherever they are—about the teams selected for the first round, details about the Open Practice session and more. There is no fee for the service; only participants’ standard wireless carrier text message rates apply. Georgetown has been publicizing the mobile campaign during Washington Wizards games at the Verizon Center and in publications like the Washington Post Express.
Distributive Networks CEO Kevin Bertram states, “We are thrilled to be able to support Georgetown University and to feed fans’ insatiable appetite for information about the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown’s mobile campaign is a simple yet powerful way to keep fans informed about events like Wednesday’s free Open Practice, and we look forward to seeing great response to the campaign.”
